I have benefited immensely from this program, and cannot wait to join everyone tomorrow. The event will also be recorded, so no worries for all my West Coast friends who will still be asleep! Also, thank you for all the kind messages from my last post. Travel is exhausting, but I think I am still on the mend from this past month. We just listened to your talk at Dana Farmer. We are so proud of you.
What Are the Differences Between Adult and Childhood Brain Tumors?
Adult Orthodontist Dana Point, CA | Dr. John Redmond Orthodontics
Brain tumors are relatively rare for people of any age, but they can occur in both children and adults. In fact, tumors of the spinal cord and brain are the second most common types of cancer in children, after leukemia. But there are some key differences between brain tumors that occur in adults and those in children. Today, more than half of all children diagnosed with a brain tumor will be cured of the disease.
Over the last few years, adult orthodontic care in Dana Point, CA has come a long way. Up until recently, it was thought that if the teeth were not corrected during childhood, you would have a crooked smile for life. This is no longer the case with John Redmond Orthodontics.
Young adults with cancer face very different challenges than patients who were diagnosed earlier in childhood or later in adulthood. The Young Adult Program at Dana-Farber YAP DFCI is part of our Adult Psychosocial Oncology Program ; it is also part of an international initiative to recognize and address the unique circumstances related to lifestyle, work, school, family life, and emotional development that young adults face when living with cancer. YAP DFCI provides emotional support services, opportunities to meet other young adults receiving treatment, and educational programs aimed at enhancing knowledge and self-advocacy skills. It's hard to know what to say to help support a friend who has been diagnosed with cancer or is dealing with other difficult news.
